Art Wallner - Herbert Wallner

Biography

Wallner & Life

Herbert Wallner was born in 1963 in Graz/Austria. Ever since he was young, he was surrounded by art and painting.
At the age of 16 he created his first oil painting and at the age of 17 he has his first exhibition in his hometown Graz. He pursued his own style, which combined realistic painting with modern elements.

During his training to become painter, gilder and restorer, he concentrated for the most part on his painting and organized exhibitions in Austria, in Switzerland an in Germany. The positive response from the art scene convinced him to further develop his painting style. At that time, abstract forms and harmonious cubism were characteristics of his works.

Wallner & Public

Herbert Wallner uses the public interest in his art to support people, to give joy of life and to reach positive feelings and associations with his colour creations. His engagement encloses beside painting courses in senior citizen's residences also auctions and raffles of his works on known public platforms and events.

1st. World-Record
In spring 2005, the artist decided to do something off the beaten track: He wanted to paint the longest painting in the world and, consequently, be recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records.
After 9 months, a 657 ft long painting in Wallner’s typical painting style was ready to be exhibited in Graz, Berlin and Munich, before the artist donated it to the Kinderkrebshilfe Graz, an organization which helps children suffering from cancer.

In the course of 2006, the artist presented his paintings in more than 27 exhibitions. He further developed his very own style, until it became the typical harmonious cubism. Art critics in Berlin even came up with a name for his painting style: Realkubismus - realistic cubism. In 2007, the city of Graz recognized the efforts undertaken by Herbert Wallner and provided him with an own studio.

2nd. World Record
In the 2007 year he decided to set his second world record in favor of the SOS Kinderdörfer in Gambia (association helping children around the globe) by creating the highest painting in the world.
In august 2007, one part of the painting not yet finished was presented in front of invited guests and the press in Bakoteh/Gambia.
For the highest picture of the world, 7 metres wide and 186 metres high, Wallner painted in 2008 in favor of the SOS Kinderdörfer during one year in Gambia under extreme terms of employment between alternately glowing heat and flood-like rainfalls.
The enthusiasm of the people in the SOS Kinderdorf (assoziation around the world) motivated the artist every day anew. "Their endeavours and intentions to support me are unbelievable. Here the true African warmth and auxiliary readiness appears. These people earn our support" so Wallner.
Herbert Wallner has a constant exhibiton in the Kunst Galerie Holasek - Art Gallery Holasek in Graz.
